To generate fast, successful search results: only enter parameters in a few fields at first. On your first pass, only specify those parameters that are most critical to your creative direction. This will make your search entry time faster and will yield more results. If you end up with too many choices and want to refine or modify your search, return to the search and enter more direction. Quick Search:
Enter any keyword....a mood, a music style/genre, a tempo description, a subject, the title of a track or the Track ID of a track you’ve heard previously that you’d like to find quickly. Then hit the GO or FIND IT NOW button.

You can search with multiple keywords separated by a space to get an “AND” search.

For example, "new age slow" will return all pieces that are New Age AND slow.  back to top
Tempo Search:
Tempo Word Descriptions:
Selecting “Slow” will return the range of Very Slow, Slow and Medium Slow tracks. Selecting “Medium” will return Medium Slow, Medium and Medium Fast tracks. Selecting “Fast” will return Medium Fast, Fast and Very Fast tracks.  back to top
Exact Tempo:

10 Beats Equals: Match the exact tempo of a pace you have in mind or the pace of a video cut or voiceover. Time ten beats of the tempo you have in mind with a stop watch, and enter that number(make sure to enter the number in hundredths of a second, such as 4.36. If you only have a number in tenths of a second, enter 4.3 not 4.30, for example. If you only have a single digit number, enter 4.0 not 4).

Count “1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, stop”. (Starting the stop watch on “1” and stopping it on “11”-- If you stop on “11”, you’ll get the number you want....10 full beats.) Once you get the hang of this, it becomes an amazing technique for finding precise tempos and paces. Tracks that are within 3% of the value you entered are returned, giving you more tracks to choose from--all very close to the tempo you are looking for. back to top

BPM (Beats Per Minute): Slow tempos typically range from 40-90 BPM Medium tempos typically range from 90-150 BPM Fast tempos typically range from 150-350 BPM. You can glance at these numbers in the search return to get a general feeling of the pace of a piece before listening. 
If you know the BPM you are looking for, enter the number in the BPM field of the search window. Tracks that are within 3% of the value you entered are returned, giving you more tracks to choose from--all very close to the tempo you are looking for. back to top

Length:
The elasticmusic compositions have been created in several basic lengths. The long (which is over a minute and a half long), :60, :30, :15, :10, :05. Most titles are offered in a variety of lengths. Many times alternate edits for a given length were created, offering a different structure, a different orchestration, or a different ending.

This feature will return edits designed to work with the length you enter.

If you enter :60, for example, you will get edits that are :59 and :60.

You will also get selections longer than :60 that were intended to be faded at :59.5 or :60 as a complete spot. For instance, your search with “:60” may return an edit with length 1:12. This edit was designed to work faded at :59 or :60, but also includes extra music at the end after :60 in case you wish to edit out a section internally and still have music left to complete a full :60. With many of these "over length" edits, you can start the spot after the piece’s intro or cut out a bar to make an important “hit point” and still have a complete :60 piece of music.  back to top

Vocals:

This feature allows you to search for just pieces that have vocals with lyrics, just pieces that have vocals without lyrics (scat, chants, shouts, etc.) or just pieces that have no vocals. back to top
Ending Type:
Button endings have a definite conclusion and feel like a complete ending.  back to top
Fade endings give a sense that the music continues past the end time.  back to top
Fade Ending with a bonus Button Ending: Some edits were designed to end with a fade, but also include a button ending after the point where the fade would take place. For example, a fade ending edit designed to fade at :30, may include a bonus button ending at :36 to allow you to easily create a button ending from that edit by starting later into the edit or editing out music internally.  back to top

Pop-up Search:

Enables you to select the parameter(s) you have in mind from a list of alphabetical choices. You can select parameters from different pop-up lists and search for them at the same time. For example, Playful Jazz pieces can be found by selecting Playful from the Moods pop-up list and Jazz from the musical styles pop-up list..  back to top
